Comparing Using Subtraction
With the help of subtraction, we can compare two numbers.
By subtracting we can find by how much one number is greater than the other number.
Let us consider the following example;
Reena's father is 65 years old and her uncle is 43 years old. How many years is Reena's uncle younger than her father?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Reena's father is 65 years old and her uncle is 43 years old.
So, Age of Reena's Father = 85 years
Age of Reena's Uncle = 43 years
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many years is Reena's uncle younger than her father?
To find the number of years Reena's uncle is younger
We will perform subtraction as we are supposed to find the no. of years Reena'a uncle is younger
55 - 43 = ?
We will perform the required operation
Hence the Reena's uncle younger than her father by 22 years.
